Years 1981-1985 is the period when the theatre was being established, when first workshop and stage experiences were' being acquired, and a search for style was being made. It is a period when premieres were prepared in the spirit of the so called "theatre of allegory". The main part of the company was formed at the time by: Beata Wesolek, Witold Izdebski, Adam Kubik, Marek Radwan, Jaroslaw Stypa, Witold Urbanczyk.
- Witold Izdebski establishes a theatrical workshop group in Palac Mlodziezy in Katowice under the name of Teatr pod Kluczem (Theatre under Lock and Key), later: Cogitatur;
- the group works on the basis of workshop practice of Teatr Maja in Poznan;
- proclamation of martial law prevents departure of the group for study and creative workshops to Teatr Laboratorium in Wroclaw;
- first public performance of the theatre: collection of etudes entitled Diogenes presented during the theatrical workshops in Jelenia Gora;
- "Marcholt" the Academic Centre of Culture in Katowice becomes the group's residence;
- outdoor action Misterium Wigilijne (The Mystery of Christmas Eve), presented in December in an old courtyard in 3 Maja Street in Katowice;
- premiere of the show Nieprzejednanie (Implacability) based on the scenario and directed by Witold Izdebski (April, ACK "Marcholt");
- the theatre presents Nieprzejednanie in Swinoujscie (Fama Festival), Dabrowa Gornicza (Barborkowe Spotkania Teatralne) and in Gliwice;
- outdoor action Podroz Trzech Kroli (Journey of the Magi), December, presentation in a courtyard in Warszawska Street in Katowice;
- premiere of the show Z zycia i Piesni Kruka (From the Life and Songs of the Raven) based on a work by Ted Hughes, prepared and directed by Witold Izdebski (July, Riviera Remont Club in Warsaw), performance presented also in Galeria Brama and Chatka Zaka in Lublin;
- street improvisation Epizod z zycia Immanuela Kanta (Episode from the Life of Immanuel Kant) at the foot of Dwor Artusa in Gdansk during the Dominican Fair (August)
- Show Z zycia i Piesni Kruka is presented during Krakowskie Reminiscencje Teatralne (Theatrical Reminiscences of Cracow)
tour of the theatre in Great Britain (June,
Edinburgh , Glasgow, London, Stirling) where a collection of etudes called Devils, Devils was presented, prepared especially for the occasion, upon returning to Poland the group breaks up;
- collection of etudes Czerwone i Czarne (Red and Black) (October, Panopticum Club in Cieszyn)staged by the group consisting of new members, becomes the manifestation of new, neo-expressionistic language of the theatre.
The years 1986-1990 are a time of theatre experiments carried out around the idea of the neo-expressionistic theatre. The stem of the theatre is. formed at the time by: Katarzyna Mrozinska-Izdebska, Katarzyna Pryc, Adam Bialon, Marcin Herich, Witold Izdebski, Marek Radwan.
- premiere of show Totentanz in Polen based on the scenario and directed by Witold Izdebski (February, Katowice, premises of the D1browiacy Group);
- the Theatre presents Totentanz in Polen in Kielce (Festiwal Teatrow Debiutuj1cych "Start" - Festival of Theatres making a Debut "Start" - the performance gets a distinction award), Cieszyn (Assembly Hall of the Silesian University Branch in Cieszyn) and in Augustow (Adaptation Camp for 1st Year Students);
1987 - premiere of the show Zamki Transylwanii (Castles of Transylvania) based on a scenario and directed by Witold Izdebski (March, Krakowskie Reminiscencje Teatralne);
- the Theatre presents Zamki Transylwanii in Tychy (Tyskie Spotkania Teatralne - Theatrical Meeting of Tychy - grand prix), Totentanz in Polen in Szczecin (presentation of theatres from Katowice together with T 12a) and Totentanz in Polen and Zamki Transylwanii in Rzeszow ("Przedstart" Festival) and in Lublin Chatka Zaka);
- collection of theatrical and musical etudes Black Coffin (June, Miedzynarodowe Spotkania Teatrow Wizji i Plastyki - International Meeting of Theatres of Vision and Art - in Katowice, scenario: Ryszard Gabryo and Witold Izdebski);
- the Theatre changes residence - beginning of work in the Chamber Hall of the Centre of Culture in Katowice;
- the Theatre presents Zamki Transylwanii in Lodz (Community Centre of Lodz), Dabrowa Gornicza (Barborkowe Spotkania Teatralne - distinction award) and at the "Melpomenki" Festival in Dolna Lomna, Czech Republic;
- Zamki Transylwanii in the A.Mickiewicz Theatre in Cieszyn;
- premiere of show Mein Herz ist schwer (March, Krakowskie Reminiscencje Teatralne) based on the scenario and directed by Witold Izdebski, this show is the last part of the neo-expressionistic triptych that was formed by Totentanz in Polen, Zamki Transylwanii and Mein Herz ist schwer;
- presentation of Mein Herz ist schwer in the Assembly Hall of the Silesian University Branch in Cieszyn;
- the Theatre obtains legal entity (registration of the Association T Cogitatur).
Institutionalisation of the Theatre proceeds from 1990. This is also the time of moving away from the neo-expressionistic formula of the spectacles in favour of post-modernistic theatre of vanguard provenance. T Cogitatur is formed by: Katarzyna Mrozinska-Izdebska, Katarzyna Pryc, Jacek Dokutowicz (1991-1993), Maciej Dziaczko (since 1996), Marcin Herich, Witold Izdebski, Marek Radwan, Leslaw Witosz (since 1996).

- premiere of bricollage Niegodne chwile naszego zycia (Shameful Moments of Our Life) (March, Centre of Culture in Katowice) staged by Witold Izdebski;
- the Theatre obtains its first own residence in Wawelska Street, Katowice, which receives the name Galeria T Cogitatur;
- presentation of Niegodne chwile naszego zycia and Totentanz in Polen in Gdansk ("Wokol Brunona Schulza" Festival), Mein Herz ist sch wer in Sanok (Theatrical Collage) and Totentanz in Polen in the Establishment fox the Disabled in Tarnowskie Gory-Repty;
- the Theatre begins work on the stylistics of medieval theatre understood contrariwise - collection of etudes Czarownice i Czarodzieje (Witches and Sorcerers) (August, Galeria Extravagance, Sosnowiec);
- etude Dzis sa moje urodziny (It's my Birthday Today) performed by Witold Izdebski started a cycle of formal experiments carried out by Izdebski as the Calvin Group project (October, Galeria T Cogitatur);
